The Greatest show in sports, at least in the four major American sports is the Super Bowl. Each year hundreds of millions of people across the globe tune into to see the entire event. Some watch for the game, others watch for the halftime show, and some even watch just for the commercials. The Super Bowl has much built up anticipation after each team has earned a spot in the big game. This year’s game was no different. There were a few main stories leading up to the game. Eli vs. Brady take two, Gronks health, and Eil playing in his brother’s stadium. Well Eli won championship and MVP number two defeating the marvelous Tom Brady. Gronk was basically a distraction and non-impact player, and Eli got to say that he has more rings than his brother Peyton.
People watching for the half time show enjoyed Madonna lip synching on an outrageous video stage. The show as a whole was fantastic, except during Madonna’s new songs performance, MIA who is featured in the song flipped off the camera. MIA has been a no show in the world of music since her one hit wonder “Paper Planes.” Now, everyone is talking about her again because of what she did. Some might say “any press is good press,” and this is what she is clearly thinking. You know how many people are watching, and you are trying to make the show about you which is selfish. Madonna and Cee Lo had a good ending performance. It is also pretty incredible to think that they disassembled the stage in less than 10 minutes.
People who watch the Super Bowl are great fans because everyone is quiet during the game watching intently and they are used to chatting during the break, but these fans tell everyone to be quiet so they can hear the ad. The ads this year were funny, but they were nothing that seemed exceptionally great. Considering how much money these corporations and companies spend on these spots you would think that they would be leaps and bounds ahead of “normal day” ads. There were a large number of babies in many of the spots this year. I wonder if that these marketing firms have found that people like to see babies.
Being a Patriot fan it was tough to see Eli pull out the victory, again. However, this loss did not hurt as bad as in 2007. Then they were undefeated and their offense was unstoppable. This year they had a pretty good offense, but a less than stellar defense. A like the saying goes, “Offense sells tickets, and Defense wins Championships.”
